Watch out, I’m getting controversial!

I very rarely post stuff like this, but I watched the news last night and that was a terrible idea. One of my favorite blogs to read is The Rhino Den. It’s an awesome blog is associated with the Ranger Up Clothing Line, which is another one of my favorite things.  You can read more about Ranger Up and The Rhino Den here.  I promise it will be an entertaining read.  I had the chance to meet and say a quick thanks to the Rhino Den guys at the MilBlogging conference.  I wish I had had more time to chit chat with them, because I know I would have been one of those annoying fan types, plus I’m only a spouse *sarcasm*, who has probably nothing awesome to say to these guys.  I love them and I’m super glad they won an award at this years Award ceremony. Over at the The Rhino Den you can find one of my favorite posts, The D*&@$!bag of the Week.  This week definitely lived up to expectations and people came out in full force.  Naturally there were plenty of comments that really had nothing to do with the point. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I can’t stand when people take a topic, find a controversy that isn’t there, make it about something else, and the true point of the story gets lost in this fake controversy”.  If you get a moment you can check it out and see what I mean.  When I saw the news last night I immediately thought of this weekly post and thought, “marion barry should get it!!”  So here’s my tribute to The Rhino Den!

Now, onto the point of the post.  I watched the news last night, and for those that don’t live here in DC, there is quite a controversy going on the city council here, with embezzlement and such.  Kwame Brown and Marion Barry are pretty much idiots from what I can tell, in my short time here in the area.  Barry has made so many crazy and weird statements that I can’t keep track and Brown seems to me to be an egotistical dirtbag, who pretty much thinks he’s the most awesome thing out there.  Its all been coming to a head because of Brown resigning from the council and temporary people being elected and there’s been allegations of bank fraud.  Needless to say its been quite entertaining.  So last night the hubby and I were watching the news and they were showing video of the council.  There were plenty of snarky quips to go around, people were crying, Brown was laughing inappropriately, it was quite the hullabaloo.  So at the end of the segment they of course wanted to get some statements from important people.  Important is clearly a relative term, because what I think they wanted was a quote that would grab ratings, but why would they?  And who is good for some ratings spikes?  Marion Barry of course.  Are we ready for his quote?

“This is the greatest governmental crisis since home rule. I can’t think of anything except 9/11 that’s been more horrific,” Barry said in a press release titled, “Barry Urges Media to Quote Him Accurately.”

Thanks to Politico for the quote.
Ummm, yeah.  I really don’t even feel like I need to elaborate on this post anymore after that.  Its the perfect ending to a post.  I love when I don’t have to ramble on and on.  Happy Thursday Peeps!
