New Beginnings – She’s a Big Girl Now!

New Beginnings, is a good way to look at complete and utter, totally overly-dramatic sadness.  But seriously, I sent my little girl off to school.  I sent her out into the world, all day, without me. sigh. She was so excited and so ready to begin this exciting adventure.  My older son has been the sweetest ever, excitedly filling her in on what to expect and offering to walk her to her class this morning all by himself.

she wants to be a baby doctor….I love that

She picked out her outfit and woke up even before my alarm went off.  She came home excited and told me everything with the sweetest look on her face.  Little did she know, only a couple hours before I was bawling my eyes out in the shower. oiy!!!

She was ready, and I know that; but that doesn’t mean I was.  No, not by any stretch of the imagination was I ready for this.  I wasted away my summer, ignoring what was coming.  My baby was going to Kindergarten.  When my oldest went to school I was sad, really sad.  I remember crying, but this was different.  I’m one step closer to being done.  And while I realize that I still have like three more years before all of them are in school that doesn’t mean I’m able to shove those thoughts out of my head.  On any given day I would characterize myself as an emotional person.  I usually wear them on my sleeve and don’t attempt to hid them.  Age has only slightly improved that.  One of my more popular posts is “How Do You Know?” where I lament over the fact that I realize that we are done but I don’t feel it.  This undoubtedly is one of the reasons while sending my little girl off to school has been so difficult.

The best big brother in the whole world.  I’m a lucky momma!

New Beginnings is what I titled this post, mostly because it fits in with the theme of Blogger Challenge 2014.  Its a chance to new beginnings though isn’t it?  Simple days with my littlest guy, exploring and learning.  Taking naps with him and getting in all those snuggles that he so loves to give. This time is a gift, and I intend to make the most of it.

2014 Blogger Challenge – Favorite Skin Care Options

So we are into Topic 2 for my 2014 Blogger Challenge.  Never mind that I’m cutting it close this time, with two days to spare.  The point is that I’m getting it in right?  Are you guys participating in any blogging challenges or goals this year?  If you are, make sure to let me know so I can follow along and support you in your blogging goals and challenges.  I’m a succor for it.

This week’s topic is all about skin care, and I’m really excited about this.  I feel like after all this time I’ve really honed my skin care regimen.  This includes my make-up uses.  While I still experiment and try new things, especially as a lucky duck blogger that gets to sometimes try new things, a point has been reached where its time to get series about my skin care.  Not to dwell on the fact that this year will be the big 31, recognizing that taking care of my skin and looking into anti-aging components of skin care is important.  Here are a few of my favorite things.

Restore
This is a new item for me, that I tried thanks to Influenster.  I’m sure you have seen the Cindy Crawford commercials for this particular line of products.  I’ve been wanting to try it ever since I saw them.  Apparently the commercials were doing there jobs right?  This is a preventative so I can’t say anything specific about how it is working for me.  I love the smell and feel.  Being someone with sensitive skin, I love finding products that don’t affect it negatively.
I am a true Mary Kay fan, a loyalist to the brand that has been in my life since I was a little girl.  In fact I once wrote a letter to THE Mary Kay and she wrote me back.  My mom sold Mary Kay for years, and is still a faithful user.  Now my sister sells it.  If you’re interested in trying any of the products totally visit her page.  She a freaking make-up expert its ridiculous.  Mary Kay has the Good Housekeeping seal of approval; and now is the make-up sponsor for Project Runway AllStars.
TimeWise® Miracle Set® (combination/oily)
This is the TimeWise set, available for both oily/combination skin and dry skin.
This stuff is great and I have used both versions, as I’ve changed climates.  Remember this is an important thing to note in skincare.  Sometimes your skin can change, which means you have to change up your skincare plan.
Mary Kay also came out with a Botanicals line, which is made without any synthetic dyes or added frangrances, and is their most “natural” line of products if that is something you are looking for.  You still get the great benefits and history of excellence that you get with other Mary Kay products, but in a Botanical form.
I’m also a fan of the Time Wise Firming Eye Cream (notice changes right away!!), micro-dermabrasion set, and the eye revitalizer.
This is my favorite make-up removing/cleansing pads.  I always, always have problems with my eye make-up coming off.  This is rough thing right ladies?
Simple Skincare Eye Makeup Remover Pads
Simple Skincare Cleansing Facial Wipes
Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Do you have a favorite skin care product?  I wanna hear about it please!

My New Year’s Non-Resolution

This first week of the new year is always full of facebook posts, blog posts, news articles and other such things that talk about Resolutions.  What are going to do or accomplish this year?  I’ve never really done a resolution before.  I sort of feel like it would have set me up for failure.  The resolution is almost like the grand gesture, or the naturally high that comes from doing this one-time great thing.  Then, after time…..it just slowly fades away.  Life happens really.  There are errands to run, laundry to do, kids to feed and husbands to try to spend time with.  I can however find something that will inspire me for the year.

This year I’m participating in a blog challenge with my bloggy pal over at AnotherGirlyBlog.  I happened to stumble upon her blog in December and saw that she was putting this together.  I’ve never done anything like this in the several years that I’ve been blogging.  This year I really want to write more from my heart, get more personal (as personal as I can while trying to maintain OPSEC and PERSEC); and I think that doing this type of thing will really help.  Not only that, its a sure fire way to find some other amazing bloggers out there that might be a good part of a my New Year’s Inspiration….my New Year’s Non-Resolution.

So here’s mine….

Be healthy
I want to be happy and healthy!  I don’t want to constantly be ragging on myself for my body.  I don’t want to think, “I feel fat today.”  I don’t want to cry because I don’t feel good about myself.  Being “skinnny” like some heroin-looking Calvin Klein model isn’t my thing.  There has never been a time in my life when I was that.  Spending my time looking at pictures of that and thinking that’s what I need to look like is crazy.  That’s not my body type.  It’s not how I was made.  Enjoying life, working out because it feels good, my new found love of running….that is what I want my year to look like.
