The Sunday Social, Week 85

Make sure to come back on Tuesday for the Inagural Re-Unveiling (did you like that?!) of Rewind 365 here on Cammo Style Love.  Come back on the third Tuesday of every month when we take a look back at where we were a year ago that week – include your pictures, stories, whatever!  It’s going to be so fun.

Now, onto the the Social!

1. Top Three Favorite Kinds of Food

I love food, so for reals how do you pick only three?  Number one would be Chicken, because you can do anything with chicken and its amazing.  Two would have to be pizza, because its pizza and its awesome.  I found some yummy gluten free pizza so now i’m okay.  Bread I can do without, the brownies and cookies are yummy, but I was really worried about finding good pizza.  Mission accomplished so I’m good to go now.  Three would have to be potatoes – mashed, baked, twice baked or sweet.  Yummy!

2.  First Three Things You do In the Morning?

On a school day I start my coffee, wake up my oldest and then check my email while I’m waiting for him to drag himself out of bed.  We both happen to be not morning people.  Oiy, morning people.  LOL

3.   Last Three Things You Do at Night?

Brush teeth, set my alarm and say I Love You.  We always say I love You as the very last words….that is when he’s home.

4. Three TV Shows You Never Miss?

Duh!

It’s so good and I hope it lasts!!!  I love it.

It’s mine and Mr. Air Force’s show that we always watch together.  I record them and when he’s around we usually marathon them.

5. Three Places You Want to Visit

 – Prince Edward Island.  It’s kind of a whole Anne of Green Gables, from my childhood thing.

 – This is a beautiful church in Newmarket, Suffolk, UK.  My mom used to live there and I’ve always wanted to visit it.  Basically anywhere in the UK is cool by me.

St Mary: the best of Newmarket.

 – Venice – seriously how beautiful is this place.  Only picking three places is really hard, but it’s a start.

6.  Three people I can always count on
That is too hard.  These last two years have had a lot of ups and downs and a lot of friends that have hung in there with me even when I was at my lowest, totally detached and things like that.  More friends than three that’s for sure.  My family is always there for me and that’s more than three right there.  Katie, Katy, Jamie, Holly, Toni, Tori, Sarah…way too many to count.  I tell you i couldn’t have made it without them, even though I didn’t even realize they were there.
Okay, now that I’m crying….
Can’t wait to read everyone’s responses this week

Sunday Social Week 84

Yay, my first Sunday Social of 2014!  This has by far been my most favorite thing to do in blogging.  This is the sure-fire way to find some amazing blogs of all kinds.  I’ve seen fashion blogs, military themed, mom, just for fun…pretty much everything!  This linky brings together all sorts.  This weeks is a great time to jump in if you’ve never done it before because its a “Get to Know You” theme this week.  Glad you’re here so jump on it!

Sunday Social

 1. What is the name of your blog and how long have you been blogging?

I’ve been blogging for about 4 years now!

2. Why do you blog?

Sometimes I think the answer to that is always changing.  It started out as something fun to try.  I had a couple friends who had started doing it when they moved away from home.  Then I started reviewing products and it just kinda went from there.  It was never really a venting place, or a talking too much about my life place.  I kind of struggled with the balance of blogging and OPSEC/PERSEC.  This year I really do want to talk more about personal stuff…but I hate talking about me!

So really its become a place where I can talk about cool products, neat places we go here in the DC area, and topics that pertain to the military.

I’m excited for what this year has to hold.

3. What is the first blog you ever followed?

Gosh its all kind of blur (other then those family/friend ones I mentioned before), but there are a handful that stand out as the first ones that I faithfully followed.  Surprisingly enough they weren’t military blogs.  I had no idea about the military blogging world until I’d been blogging for a little bit.

This is Staci’s blog, and the first military blog I followed, although she’s so much more.  We’ve become friends now which is amazing and i”m hoping eventually we get stationed near each other.  She’s a fellow Air Force Spouse.  She actually made my first blog button! I made a hat for her hubby when I was testing some of my hats for uniforms.  she’s super crafty (hence the name), she sings and takes pictures.  Yeah, she’s pretty awesome (love ya girl!!!)

FROFD

This is another military-themed blog and one that I’ve been following the longest after Staci’s.  She has a heart of gold, the sweetest ever, and one of my faithful readers and commenters.  Whenever I’m feeling down, this girl always comes to my rescue, whether she knows it or not.  She is an inspiration to me as a milspouse, a runner and just all around person.  I’m really really hoping they make their way out to my neck of the woods!!
DDLbutton
If I had to pick one this might be the first blog I actually followed followed.  This is Kim Rosa’s cloth diaper blog.  She is one of the people I credit with me cloth diapering.  I’ve posted before that I fully credit my friend Holly, but Kim’s blog was there for me.  I’ve never had the chance to meet her, but she is on my blog meeting, star struck, bucket list 🙂  Thanks KIM!

This one also sticks out to me as one I’ve followed for a long time now too.  Great reviews, like amazing reviews!  I’ve definitely purchased products after reading her reviews.

4. What is your favorite post you wrote in 2013?
That is really hard.  When I was writing my review post of my most popular ones of the year I saw that many of the most popular were my favorite!  I had a lot of fun writing a lot of them.  My two favorite I narrowed it down to was my post about Honor Flight, and how the kids and I went out for Veteran’s Day and welcomed a group of WWII Veterans to their memorial, here in DC.  If you don’t know about Honor Flight please check out my post and learn more about them.  There is probably a group in your area.  My other favorite post was “The Forgotten MilSpouse“.  It was a post for Military Spouse Appreciation Day in May.  I wrote about some of the feelings I have about National Guard and Reserve spouses and how they are frequently forgotten in the big picture.  Anyway, I really felt passionate about it.

5. What are your blogging goals for 2014?
For this year I think I would really love to grow my active readership more.  Definitely want to keep growing and expanding my military features and support highlights.  I have always felt it was important to do that, and since that is one of the main reasons I began blogging that is really important to me.  Also, blogging more personal things is something I really want to try.  I sort of talked about that at the beginning of the post, but there it is.  I can’t wait to see what the rest of you have to say about it!  I”m sure you’ll give me more inspiration!!

6. Top 3 Favorite Blogs to Follow?
I really hate questions like this! Do I have to answer?  There are so many I feel like what I’m obsessed with changes every week!  I have a whole tab of favorites, and I’ll link to it right here.  Plus, I also list about four or five at the bottom of my blog.

The Sunday Social, Week 80

Sunday Social

Welcome to my little portion of the Sunday Social link-up.  If you happen to stumble upon my blog and you’ve never done a Sunday Social, you are missing out!  Go, quick and join in the fun!  If you are a regular and you made your way here, yay! Thank you!  Please check things out, let me know what you think, leave me your info so that I can follow you (if I don’t already).  I also have an awesome giveaway going on – a digital copy of this amazing fitness book, as well as a $25 Amazon gift card.

Now, onto the good stuff!
1.  What is your favorite holiday season tradition? I don’t even know how to pick just one.  If you were to ask some of my closest friends and family they would probably tell you that I am crazy nuts over tradition.  I love old things, things that have been done before…passed down.  They are warm and comfy, like sitting in front of a fireplace with hot cocoa and a good book (you know the paper kind, not the digital kind).  I would be willing to bet that anyone that can’t be with their families around a holiday feels the same way.  Traditions are like home…and now that I’ve wandered down this rambling path…its probably a safe bet that there are too many to name.
parades, gingerbread houses, making and decorating cookies, decorating the tree together with Christmas music playing, Santa Claus, Nativity..and the list goes on.
2. Do you have a certain holiday movie you watch more than others? This would probably fall under the tradition question, at least with  my family.  White Christmas, Holiday Inn, The Bishop’s Wife and Miracle on 34th Street are the top ones.
3. Show us your favorite decoration, or Pinterest decoration, you wish you could have. I really really really want a beautiful wooden advent.  I always scour the shelves after Christmas to see if any are on super clearance.

4. What is your favorite holiday song?  Hands down The Carol of the Bells…oh man, I love it.

this is obviously a crazy rockin’ version, but I love it!
5. What is your favorite holiday dessert? I’m not really sure if it’s really a holiday dessert..although I’m not sure what that means…but I like my good ole fashioned Apple and Pumpkin Pies.
6. What is on your wish list this year? This year I didn’t really think about it.  Hubby and I plan on getting a tv for our bedroom finally.  It is supposed to be our gift to each other things year for Christmas, but knowing him there will probably be something else under the tree, while I’m all good and behave *evil laugh* and not get him anything.
Thanks for stopping by!  I can’t wait to see what you all have to say and maybe find some new blogs!!

Sunday Social Week 74

It’s a new week ya’ll!  Mr. Air Force is off gallivanting around, doing super awesome Mr. Air Force things.  My oldest has two days off from school, one of which he gets to spend at his Tae Kwon Do dojang for a day camp.  The weather is finally starting to turn around here so it’s time for me to pull out of my awesome mommy arsenal of cold-weather fun.  And, believe it or not I downloaded a 10k program.  I can not believe I’m enjoying this running thing so much.  If you would have told me that I wouldn’t have believed you.  Can’t wait to hear about everyone’s week; and as always, make sure to let me know if you’re a new follower so i can return the favor!

Sunday Social

1. What is currently on your wish list?
For the last two years I have been on a ridiculous hunt for boots.  I want cute boots that won’t break the bank!  I’m going for a riding boot style, which not much of a heel, that I can dress up or down.  Everytime I see them they either aren’t in my size or they are on someone else that got them the year before, or on super clearance.  As you can see I’m slightly obsessed.  This will be the year though baby!!!

2. Share a new iPhone, droid, iPad app that you have recently discovered that we all need.
So there are a couple that I’ve found recently – Winery Passport – find all the wineries nearby, store information about them, favorite wines, connect with friends.  Cardholder – I put all my business cards I get from all my networking events.  Its amazing.  loads the card picture and the information in there automatically.  lastly, LoLo, 7 minute workouts.  not bad.

3. What is a new fall tv show that you have added to your dvr?
Super Fun Night – it had a rough start but its getting better.  I also started watching Reign, on the CW.  Totally a historical flub, and a cheesy teen damage…but I love it.  Its one of those fluff type shows.  However, right now I’m obsessed with Hart of Dixie.  I’m playing catch up on Netflix right now.

4. Share your social media links so we can follow you. (Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, etc) Tell us which is your favorite and why.
 Pinterest
instagram
twitter
facebook
Not sure how to pick a favorite!  But I think either Pinterest (for clear and obvious reasons) and Instagram

5. What is a tv show, movie, or song that you could watch or listen to over and over and never get tired of?
Gosh, While You Were Sleeping, Sleepless in Seattle for movies.  Seinfeld and Fraiser, The Bob Newhart Show…..The Songs about Jane album from Maroon 5, All American Rejects self-titled first album….I’ve got some sentimental ones too, but there’s so many to add!    That was a good question.  I can’t wait to read everyone’s responses.

Thanks for another great week Ashley!  Check out some of my recent posts here and here!  You can see the pics from our Homecoming earlier this year and read about my newest volunteer project, and maybe you can help!
