1. What do you value most in life?

I am so blessed to have so much in my life.  My God, my Family, my Friends and my Country.

2. What do you think the greatest invention in your life is?

Oh my heavens!  I have to say that facetime, skype and any of that new-fangled stuff that helps us stay in contact with Mr. Air Force when he’s off roaming around the countryside is pretty fantabulous!   I am fortunate enough, I believe, to have been in two separate communication generations.  I remember only having land lines to communicate with him, and letters and missing phone calls and being devastated.  HAVING to look at pictures of him because it would be eight months before I literally saw him again.  So blessed.

3. What do you think the secret to a good life is?

The secret to a good life truly is with the company you keep.  It truly is.  Laughter and love, and embracing the little things are so important.  I really have a hard times some time embracing the season that I’m in.  Sometimes it can be really difficult; but the times that I do, it’s amazing.

4. what would you like to be remembered for when you are gone?

I would really hope and pray that I would be remembered as someone that was there for her family and friends.  That I gave of myself to my church and my community.  That I was patriotic.  I think that is really what everyone hopes for.

5. What accomplishments in life are most proud of?

Definitely graduating from College, and doing it in four years.  Teaching dance and a lot of my choreography I am really proud of.  That was a big accomplishment for me.  I am also really proud of where my blog has taken me and what it has allowed me to do and give back to my extended military family.

I am so excited to see what everyone else has to say!  These were great questions this week.  Thank you Ashley and Neely!!!

Sunday Social, Week 69

Happy Sunday Ya’ll!  It’s another week.  Is it just me or is time flying by faster?  I’m not sure if its because I specifically don’t want it to, or life is super busy right now, or a combination of all of that.  Maybe I’m just old?  Needless to say we’re plugging along.  Is life flying for anyone else right now?  Before we get going make sure to check out the giveaway on the blog.  It’s a wonderful little animated children’s film, Legend of Kung Fu Panda!

Sunday Social

Time for my favorite linky, thanks Ashley Lately and A Complete Waste of Make-up.  Seriously, I can’t believe I missed last week.  It was all about purses…come on man!!!!

1. What is your dream job?

Well my degree is in Criminal Justice/Psychology.  There was a time where I wanted to be a sentence report writer.  Kind of the best of all worlds, a little police, a little law, a little investigative.  I would still love to do something like that, but being a mom is a pretty awesome job.  Right now though, being in DC, I feel like dream jobs surround me.  I would absolutely love to work in politics.  It would probably be a love/hate sort of deal; but if I could do something in the advocacy area for the military that would be awesome!  Maybe get paid to do some of the awesome volunteer work that I do.

2. If you won the lottery and didn’t need to work for money, what would you do with your time?

Definitely do more of volunteering and attending conferences and seminars so that I could educate myself more.  The hardest part for me is really the babysitting issue.  Mr. Air Force is gone quite a bit, so that can be really hard.  I have some amazing babysitters, but they do cost money.  I’m so thankful that he is so supportive of me and tries to make sure I do as much as I can.  However, I wish I could do more.

3. What piece of career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?

So this is kind of funny.  If you happen to be expecting your first little one, surround yourself with those that are like minded in your parenting style and choices.  Supportive friends that will be there for you.  I have a few friends that I always go to to bounce stuff off of, or ask questions.  Many of our friends have similar parenting styles and we support each other in our decisions.

If you’re a blogger – get out there.  Jump in with both feet.  I started making friends, networking, talking about what I like.  You don’t necessarily have to find one specific niche, although there are many successful bloggers that talk about only one subject.  Keep it light and fun.  Whenever I start to get overwhelmed blogging is the first thing to go, in more then one respect.  I take a break for a day or two or else my blogging goes down hill.  I want to be on my A Game when I’m here.

If you are interested in more volunteering, find what your passionate about in life.  If you like working with kids, volunteer with kids; if you like animals, work at a shelter.  There’s nothing better then giving back and helping someone in need.  Who knows, maybe someday it might lead to a paid gig.  Volunteer work can not only be rewarding, it can be priceless experience.

4. What would be your ideal “just for fun” job?

probably something retail, like clothing (Old Navy maybe), or maybe a craft store.  Who needs a pay-check right?!

5. What was your first “real” job?

I’ve definitely had some awesome jobs.  I worked at a very awesome collectibles store in “old” part of town, it was so fun.  I was a dance teacher for awhile; but my first “real” job was at a law office.  It was pretty awesome – reception and errand runner, but I learned some cool things.

Can’t wait to read everyone’s responses.  Make sure to enter the giveaway mentioned above, and start checking out my updated resource tabs up top as well.  If you are military, or know someone in the military, hopefully they will be a great help.  I’m still working on growing the resources, but its a start!

Sunday Social Week 63 – Blog Hop

It’s a new week everyone, which means its time for a Sunday Social!  I missed these link-ups while I was off vacationing in the beautiful Northern California (more to come of that).  So happy to visit some old bloggy friends and maybe find some new blogs.  If you’ve never linked-up you really should, it’s so much fun.

Sunday Social

1. What’s something you’ve never done but always wanted to do?

Gosh, I always wanted to go to another country (aside from Mexico – I went back in the day when you didn’t need a passport).  I’m not a super dare-devilish kind of gal, so sky-diving and scuba diving…not for me!

2. Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years all of my kids will be in school.  Whoa!  That’s a little weird and slightly emotional to think about.  I’d like to be close to making our way back to California to be near our families, but that can always change.  I’m just along for the ride.  Since the kids will all be in school I’d love to find a job, not sure where exactly that would be.  This last year has just been so crazy, with so many doors opening to me.  Who knows, one of those doors might lead to a paying job one of these days!

3. What are you looking forward to by the end of 2013?

By the end of 2013 I will have run my first 5K and I’m super excited about it.  I’m hoping hubby will be working slightly less and I’m looking forward to maybe having him home for some of the major holidays at the end of the year…which doesn’t happen very often.

4. What are your hopes for blog.

I feel like I’m really starting to get the word out to people, not just about me, but really helping the military community.  I’m starting to hear feedbaack from people and interest in helping me highlight and spread the word about programs that are available to military families.  I really want to do more for the National Guard and Reserves community and I just want to be able to reach out to them more.  It’s so exciting to think about all the possibilities for my blog, and because of my blog!

5. Do you always see yourself living in your current city/town?

I think we will be here for awhile.  We’ve been wanting to get here for a really long time and we’re finally here.  The adjustment was a lot harder then I expected it to be, but I think I had a recharge after going home to California.  So, in short yes and no.

6. What is your morning routine?

oh gosh!  LOL!  My children are usually my alarm clock, cute ones though huh 🙂  I get up, start coffee and make breakfast while they are either playing or watching some morning cartoons.  Once I get the coffee started I get their breakfast going.  After they are all settled I finally sit down my little living room, with my coffee, and begin my email/blog reading!!!

Thanks for stopping by!  If you’re a new follower, thank you so much for stopping by!  Make sure to let me know so I can make sure the favor is returned.  I’ve got a button swap going on, so check out my Sponsor/Media Kit tab up top to get a free ad on my sidebar.  And if you think I’m pretty awesome I would love for you to vote for me.  I was named a Top 50 Military Blog by VoiceBoks Parenting Community and I’m super excited!  Just click and check the box next to Cammo Style Love and vote!  Thank you so much!!!

Sunday Social, week 58

So last week I totally sucked at wandering around to other posts from the link-up.  I’m still catching up on new blogs from that.  sigh.  It’s been a busy couple weeks since hubby came home (Homecoming pictures to come!) so I’m blaming him, LOL!  But I will definitely be doing better this week.  Thanks for taking time to stop by.

Sunday Social

1. What is your all-time favorite song?

I’m at a loss right now at how I’m supposed to actually come up with one all-time favorite song.  I mean, I don’t even know where to begin.  Music is such a huge deal for me, and my family.  Most everything that happens in our life can be coupled with a song.  Its just how we are.  So, that being said I think I’ll have to pick a least a couple.

1. Faithfully – Journey
2. The Dance – Garth Brooks
3. Whenever You Call – Mariah Carey and Brian McKnight
4. That Way – Backstreet Boys (yeah, I said it, you wanna fight?! LOL)

2. Your favorite singer/band?

Just bought tickets to go see Backstreet Boys…..AGAIN!! Yes, seriously again and I’m so excited I could pee my pants.  I’m also an All American Rejects and you will frequently find bands and singers like Def Leppard, Maroon 5, Pink, Sarah Brightman, Dolly Parton, and so many others I wouldn’t even know where to start.  I love so much!

3. What Songs Remind You of Your Childhood

Definitely relates to the above question.  I can’t tell you how much of my childhood that is tied to music.  So, if we’re talking like my young childhood…songs like these always bring me back.

If we’re talking like my jr high and high school school years…..

oh man…I could watch these videos all day.  I’m in trouble if you all are posting videos! LOL!

4. What songs put you in a good mood?

I always want to get up and dance when I hear –

Last Song – All American Rejects
Vogue – Madonna
Having a Party – Shaina Twain and Billy (oh billy, he’s so cute)

As you can see, I’m an eclectic kinda gal

5. What is your music to rock out to in your car?

It’s almost like asking me about my gym mix.  Its usually different music then I would just pick up and dance to ordinarily.  Its that music that has a special beat to it that you can’t help but move to…you know what I mean.

so Michael Jackson, Christina Aguliera, Brittney Spears, Taylor Swift, some Lady GaGa…stuff like that.

6. What is the most embarrassing album you own?

Gosh, I own a lot of Backstreet Boys, some Spice Girls, N SYNC…gosh, what’s embarrassing?  LOL, I think I’m pretty awesome 😉

Thanks for stopping by!  I really really really can’t wait to see what other people have said.  Have a great week.

Sunday Social – Week 57

Sunday Social

Happy Sunday peeps…its been a little while since I linked up with Ashley and Neely for Sunday Social, so why not jump back in and start off the week right.  I’m also excited to say I just made #34 on Circle of Mom’s Top Military Mom Blogs.  Didn’t make the Top 25 this year, but the competition was pretty amazing.  Some wonderful military mom blogs made the list.  You should go check out out.

Okay, now on to the fun stuff!!!

1. What is the best trip you’ve ever been on?

Gosh that is tough.  The hubby and I have had the opportunity to go on a couple really amazing trips, including our cross-country move.  I think two of my favorite trips we’ve taken was to (Ashley’s stomping ground!!) Oklahoma City and also to Savannah, GA.  We went for some military conferences and we got to go without the kids.  It was pretty amazing.  Two places that I never would have thought I would go and probably wouldn’t have had the opportunity to otherwise.

OKC baseball
leaving a note at the OKC bombing memorial

of course, had to go to Toby Keith’s

2. what is your best idea for a girl’s weekend trip?

I think going to Las Vegas would be pretty awesome with just girls, or a night on the town in San Francisco.  I’ve never been on a girl’s trip before, so I think I would be super thrilled about any trip!  LOL!

3. what is your best idea for a couple’s trip?

Well, for me, any trip with just the hubby is pretty awesome.  Like I mentioned before we have had the opportunity to take some trips by ourselves.  Our honeymoon to Hawaii was pretty awesome as well.  I think anything at the beach is the perfect couple’s trip.  Just something low-key and simple.  No TV, no phones, no computers.  That’s what I love.

4. what is the best vacation on the cheap

Okay, so this week’s questions are great!  The absolute best idea for a vacation on the cheap is a staycation.  Get yourself a no frills hotel in town and experience where you live.  Hubby just recently returned from some time away (more on that later) and we are blessed with some pretty amazing friends who told us to get a room (LOL) and stayed at our house with our kids for a night.   We stayed in the heart of DC and hung out.  We were like tourists in our own city and I loved it.  We just were with each other, hung out, walked, went to dinner, had breakfast in bed. It was truly lovely.

5. What is the place you most want to visit
I really really really want to go to Europe…..very badly.  Hubby has already been (cuz I’m an amazing wife) and I really want to go.  Just to experience everything.  It seems like a dream….and I’m totally doing the whole rose colored glasses/Sabrina thing.  But I really can’t help myself.  I think about it all the time.  silly girl.

can’t wait to read what everyone else has to say.  And if you’re a new follower make sure to let me know!!!!
