Always a Painted Nail {Taking Time For You}

I was given a product to review on partnership with Brandbacker.
As always, I try to present an honest review, and my opinions are my own.
I was not compensated in any other way.
I’m a busy mom and a busy military spouse. And while I desperately try to work in time for myself, sometimes there just isn’t enough time in the day.  But one thing I do make time for no matter what is my nails. My toe nails are never without a polish on them. It just doesn’t happen. Its just that little something that makes me feel girly and put together. The finger nails are another story. If there was one thing I would spoil myself with that would be a regular manicure. But, frankly, who has the time and money for that. Enter IMpress manicure.

I know, I know…..I was a little intimidated by the charm as well. But it stayed on!! Say what? But what is really amazing about these nails is that they have come along way from the press-on nails of yore. I was thoroughly impressed (pun intended) with the variety of styles and colors available; and the fact that they are on-point with what is in-style right now. The colors are vibrant and fun, and the patterns are just as cool. They are easy to apply and stay on surprisingly well. I definitely got the advertised 10 days of manicure. That is with the busy – cleaning, dishes doing, outside playing, owie fixing – life. I couldn’t ask for more than that now could I?

– Simply peel backing and press on
– No drying time and no mess
– Safe on natural nails
– Mega gel shine
– UltraHold Technology keeps nails on
– $7.99 / Walgreens
I can say without a doubt that as adverstised IMpress met my expectations and then some. There was almost no damage to my nails when I removed the manicure. They are easy to apply and stayed on. My one issue is the sizing. With all the people in the world, packing a small box of fake nails with enough of the right size of nails for every figure is probably an arduous task. I get it. Its something that I have noticed previously with press-ons, they just don’t get it right on some of my nails. There’s always at least one on each finger that doesn’t quite get the coverage that the others do. And making sure the fake ones cover the real ones well is the key to making them look less fake. That’s my only complaint about these nails.

so if you’re a momma, looking for a little fun in your life – and fun that takes less than 5 minutes to apply….then scoot yourself on over to Walgreens and snag yourself an IMpress Manicure set stat!!

MakeUp by 1D – Mascara, Lip Gloss and Nail Polish Oh MY! *WIN*

Make-up by 1D Haul! OMG, I’m in make-up heaven!!!
It’s so much that I’m planning a couple review posts and videos for you all, but I wanted to share the haul first; as well as giving you the chance to win some of your very own Make-Up by 1D.
What I will say is that so far I’m loving it. These are all new sets so let me update you on what they have now. Again, the different make-up items are named after 1D songs.

ELECTRO GLAM MASCARA –  ($16.50) this is a tri of colored mascara for your lashes (or HAIR). This, along with a lot of the other make-up in this collection, will react to UV light. This is probably good for all that clubbing we do right? LOL. Although my first thought was the next time I do a Glow Run I’m going to be set! I wore the pink the other day for fun and I got tons of compliments on it. People totally thought it was cute! It isn’t overly bold when not worn in a UV setting. Haven’t tried it yet in my hair, so we’ll see when I give it a go.

LIQUILIGHTS GLOW GLOSS – Liquilights Glow Gloss sparkles brilliantly during the day and illuminates under UV black light after dark. Enriched with natural oils and vitamin E to keep your lips soft and hydrated all day and all night.

ROCK ME NAIL KIT, featuring NEON UV-REACTIVE Nail Varnish and UV-REACTIVE GLITTER nail toppings that add even more sizzle to your mani. Sprinkle the glitter over wet polish for a subtle accent, or go for the glitz and dip your entire wet mani in mega-watt sparkle!

These glitter pods are interesting, because it is literally loose glitter sitting in a little pot. you sprinkle it over your wet nails. It’s basically like elementary school all over again where you have to pour the glitter on over a piece of paper. Then you have to bend the paper and dump it back in the pot. So, its not easy and a little time consuming but its pretty cute. It covers really evenly but you definitely have to put clear polish over the top because it will come right off. I forgot about this and within the hour the glitter was gone.

The actual glitter polish is really awesome though, it has great coverage and can be worn alone, instead of as an overlay. The blue polish is kind of watery so it takes several coats (probably close to four) to get a solid color. These are heavy polishes at all. I’m not really sure how I feel about that considering most of the polish I like and use is the complete opposite of that. This set will run you about $16.50 at Macy’s.

Makeup by One Direction arrived in stores November 15th! and can be found in Macy’s, Dillards, Lord & Taylor, Boscov’s, Stage Stores and Beauty Brands.

BA Star Make-up ~ Two Looks *Review*

BA Star Make-Up is professional make-up designed to stand out and stay put; specifically targeted towards dancers and cheerleaders.  Why, you ask, am I talking about it with you, as I am neither a dancer or a cheerleader.  However I once was a dancer, regularly performing and sometimes competing.  Having the proper make-up and making sure you don’t have to continuously reapply it is very important.  No one has time for that nonsense.  Cameras, whether video or still, have a remarkable effect on what people look like, especially if a professional flash is used.  This is a huge goal for those of us that have spent any amount of time in theater, competitive dance and any performance arts.  Recently however I have begun to appreciate the value of this type of make-up and application.  Occasionally I have the opportunity to spend the day at press events, either behind or in front of the camera.  I meet a variety of people and I want to look my best.  Having quality make-up that lasts is important.  So, I was curious whether or not this make-up would work with an everyday look as well.

BA Star make-up gets that; and by providing deeply pigmented make-up and a eye-shadow glue accomplish that.  BA Star has everything you could need for competition kits to create a uniform look that judges like.  You can order from them in bulk and create custom kits that include all you need, including mascara, eyelashes and bronzers.

The colors in this palette is remarkable, especially the blue.  They are bright and deep, and frankly I couldn’t resist trying them out for everyday.  The perfect colors to create a smoky eye.

I decided to create the look recommended for a competition look, created by the BA Star team and uploaded on YouTube.  How easy would their suggestion be to recreate without having a professional make-up artist on hand to do it.  The look was very easy to recreate with the brushes I had on hand, aside from the glitter, which I didn’t have.  I decided to use the shadow glue on one eye so that you could see the difference.

The glue was used on the left-side.  You can see that the color is remarkably different with just one swipe of the glue.  The color, regardless of using the glue, is beautiful and bright.
And here’s your everyday look, which lasted remarkably well, and looked good over a period of time.

it’s going on five hours and still going strong
~stay tuned for this tutorial on YouTube soon! (you can subscribe to my channel by clicking the link)
