#NBFluffNStuff – Sponsor #1 *Geffen Baby Fitted Review*

In a couple of days will be the kick off to the Newborn Essentials giveaway and blog hop!  I haven’t done an event like this in a long time and its been so fun gathering up some great gifts for a lucky winner.  I want to thank Life with My Littles for hosting this event.  She is going to have so mondo amazing prizes…like I can’t even tell you how awesome its going to be over there on her blog, so make sure to check it out, as well as the other blogs participating.

Sponsor Number #1 is a local sponsor, a fabulous hubby and wife that I have personally met and spent time with.  They are a super important part of our local Great Cloth Diaper Change here in the Northern VA/DC area.  The Cloth Nook, not only provided me with a Geffen Fitted to check out, but they will be offering one as a part of the prize pack.  So very exciting!

So let’s get on with the review

Showing off!  He’s so cute
On the move!!

Here is the Geffen pictured next to a BabyKicks (to the largest size)

Pros: This is an extremely absorbant duo – the geffen fitted and inserts.  I used this diaper with two inserts for nap time and it didn’t get the outside soaked through.  I usually use fitteds with a wool cover of some kind.  We did an overnight with all three inserts and with my heavy wetter it worked great.  I like the material of both the inserts and the cover.  There’s a good fit and you could probably roll it over so that it would fit a younger child.  My son is currently wearing about 18-2T in the pants and these fit great.   It’s pretty stretchy as well.  So the size is definately adjustable.  He’s a wide boy as well.  When I used it with the one insert, or two, I didn’t really feel like there was a huge issue with bulk.

Cons: I’m not a fan of having to use a snappi.  I found that they snag and stuff (which I had a horrible incident with it ruining a brand new shirt, LOL).  I don’t use them enough to really get them down if you like using them.  These are sized diapers.  I really like to get my bang for my buck and using things that are one-size is great for me.  There’s a bit of a bulk issue going on when you have all the inserts in, but for me that’s not really an issue at night.

Robby Wash Laundry Ball *Review and Giveaway*

Hello all!  I’m a super excited to be reviewing the Robby Wash Laundry Ball today.  When I was given the opportunity I had never before heard of the Robby Wash Ball, but was super intrigued because it is a Natural and Organic option.  Just another thing for me to scope out for potential cloth diapering usage!  We aren’t a picky lot when it comes to laundry detergent.  I use baby wash for the littles, when they are littles, but standard detergent doesn’t seem to effect us and our semi-sensitive skin.  The cloth diaper laundry is a whole other story.  After trying many different, weighing the effectiveness vs the cost, we finally settled on one, but I’m always up for trying something new.

So, let me tell you a little bit about the Robby Wash Blue Ball:  The Robby Wash blue laundry ball pack is designed to be used in both cold and hot water for 12 months on average with softness and colors maintained.  Does not require any additional detergent to clean clothes or odor removal detergents to get your laundry smelling fresh. Works with both front load and top load washing machines.  The pack includes the blue washing ball, a stain stick and three extra packets of macro-molecule pellets.

The coolness of the Robby Ball doesn’t stop there though.  There is a fushia colored ball, designed to work in cooler temps on dark clothing.  There’s a ball for every occasion.  It is environmental friendly, and friendly to your budget.  You can use this for your babies, as well as anyone else looking for a hypo-allergenic alternative.  There is no phosphates or Chorine in it, and it can be used in all standard and high-efficiency machines.  But, just the fact that I can use this for a year is enough to sell it for me.  I’m such a crazy lady when it comes to saving money, so when I can do that and also buy something that is worth it, its great!

The down -low on the whole cloth diaper situation is this: yes I used it on my cloth – rinse, wash, rinse, rinse.  The result – clean diapers, great smell, no build-up or stink issues after a couple weeks of use.  I was also pretty impressed with its ability to remove stains.  Now, old stain, that I haven’t been able to sun out because of bad weather, not so much.  Extra heavy stain, not completely removed.  But I’ve been really impressed for sure.

I would definitely recommend this product.  If you’re looking for an environmentally friendly,  hypo-allergenic, cloth diaper friendly, all around great laundry – that is easy on the budget and extremely user-friendly this would be a great choice in my opinion.  You can purchase the Blue Ball from Oransi
for $32.95, with free shipping.  Pretty good deal if you think about – and if you purchase some of the many other high-quality and very expensive laundry detergents.

Please visit Oransi on the web for more info

The great thing is you also have to chance to win your own here!  Good luck! a Rafflecopter giveaway

Sponsor Spotlight: Fashion Bums fitted diaper

I’m happy to be bringing another cloth  review from one of my amazing sponsors.  This time I have a fitted diaper to talk about.  Fitteds are a recent discovery of mine and I’m just starting to feel comfortable with them.  It all began when I discovered my guy was part of the dreaded “heavy wetter” group.  Sleeping through the night, not sleeping through the night, didn’t really matter, he was a heavy wetter.  Since I was a newb at the whole cloth diapering thing this was was a daunting task and I had all but given up on night time cloth diapering.  In my pursuit of cloth diapering knowledge I perused deeper into the websites of my fellow bloggers and my  go to when it comes to cloth diapering – Cloth Diaper Geek, Life with My Littles, Dirty Diaper Laundry and Padded Tush Stats.  I repeatedly trolled these sites, as well as picked the brain of my favorite cloth diaper friend, Holly (over at Baby Steps Blog).  Although I want to specifically credit Angela (fellow milspouse) at Life with My Littles for introducing me to the concept of fitteds and the fact that it wasn’t as hard as it seems and that I should not be scared of them, which I completely was!

I have reviewed for you one fitted, a workhorse from 4Ward Thinking, which I love.  So when my current amazing top sponsor made her first fitted I jumped at the chance to try it out.  She is brand new to fitteds, but let me say she pretty much knocked this out of the ball park as far as I’m concerned.  She chose to introduce this new diaper at Christmas time and unveiled it with a darling Christmas print.

BabyKicks 3G with single hemp insert and Fashion Bums

This fitted is a zorb/woven cotton diaper and doesn’t sacrifice absorbancy in its lack of bulk.  The woven cotton acts like a PUL, but it is still a fitted, so for a prolonged use, like a long nap or overnight you will need a cover for it. So it is a Woven Cotton, two layers of Zorb, Fleece for the cover, then a snap in insert of zorb2, which is a thicker zorb then then the zorb in the cover.  It is a sized fitted, but will probably fit him for awhile longer, depending on how much he grows.  I pair it with some wool longies and I’m good to go for the evening.  This diaper needs to be prepped because it does get more absorbent as you use it, but with only one wash it did a pretty good job.  You could certainly customize this fitted with other inserts with fibers that are okay to touch babies skin, but I have found that I don’t need to.   This is similar to the workhorse I’ve reviewed, but I chose to compare it to the BabyKicks up top.  Obviously the BabyKicks (as shown above) are a pocket that is also customizable but for me couldn’t stand alone like the Fashion Bums fitted.   I wouldn’t mind a second snap in layer, so I could use two for an overnight diapering option.  But over all I’m exceptionally happy with the way the diaper fit around his legs and waist and rise as well.  It is plenty absorbent and with a great wool cover you’d be set.

Planet Wise and Bubbz – Wetbags

Happy Small Business Saturday Everyone!  I hope everyone has had a chance to check out a small business today.  One of the businesses I’m talking about today is a local small business (for me anyway), although she is also on the fancy dancy internet.  I’ve met this lady, and her family, in person and they are wonderful, dedicated people, who are all about the fluff!

One of the things that I’m really behind on that I want to catch up on is my cloth diapering related reviews.  I know that there are so many out there, but I also know that I have sort of a unique perspective, having used disposables on my first two.  My cloth diapering journey has been a crazy one and I definitely want to document it.  You can read my thoughts on my journey, as it were, here – and then find all my other cloth related posts (which will keep coming) by clicking on the tab up top.  Now, lets get down to business.

Currently, I am the proud owner of three wetbags – a Large Planet Wise, a small Planet Wise, and a Large Bubbz Wet/Dry bag.

Here’s the basic run down of the two:
This ultra large wet/dry bag features a super roomy zippered compartment to store all wet items. The front pocket has all the room you need to carry extra diapers, wipes, creams, sprays and even an extra set of clothes, that way you have everything at your fingertips.

  • Metal Zippers are the Best in the Industry that Won’t Leak Liquids
  • Holds 10 Bubbz 3.0 Double Stuffed Pocket Diapers up to 18 Single Stuffed Pocket Diapers
  • Sturdy Snapping Handle allows for ease of use with Stroller, Changing Table, Doorknob or Hook
  • Made from Eco-Friendly TPU Waterproof Lined Polyester, which decomposes in 4-5 years
  • Comes in 7 Bright Colors and 12 Fun Prints
Planet Wise
  • PVC Free and Lead Free Zippers
  • Anti-microbial
  • Reusable to avoid using plastic bags, helping to protect our planet
  • Made in the USA
  • Made with high quality designer fabrics with coordinating waterproof inner material and locking zipper.
  • Each bag is innovatively sewn with hidden seams and sealed for no wicking or leaking. First and ONLY in the industry!  Patent pending waterproof design.
  • Resists most stains odors – keeping smells in.

The Bubbz bag that I have is a wet/dry bag and the Planet Wise bag I have is just a wet bag.  You can purchase the Planet Wise is a wet/dry bag option as well.  The price difference is really the first apparent difference.  You can purchase the Planet Wise bag between $18.90 and $21.00.  The Bubbz bag is available for $7.50 right now on Kebbie’s Diaper Bag.  The Planet Wise fabric on the outside is a real  fabricy feeling (yes, new word), whereas the Bubbz bag is a more slick fabric.  While I love both and both seem to hold the same amount of diapers, the zippers seem to be quite similar, the price of the Bubbz and the fact that it is a WAHM brand makes me want to love it more.  For me I also feel like I’ve had better luck with containing smell with the Bubbz; but like I said, that has just been my experience.

In ode to this Small Business Saturday I’m edging the Bubbz bag into the lead here with 3 1/2 stars out of 4; and a solid 3 out of 4 for the Planet Wise.  I really wish there were more size options with the Bubbz since I do like it so much, and the pricing for the Planet Wise, as wonderful as a brand and company it is, it is hard for me to recommend it to someone who is really struggling with the idea of paying that much for diapers and everything else, and then on top of it to add a wet-bag.  I purchased mine with a deal through one of my favorite online retailers, CottonBabies.  I can always find what I want, they have great details and their customer service has been absolutely impeccable and trustworthy when I’ve had an issue pop up.
You have a couple more hours to check out Kebbie’s Diaper Bag’s Small Business Saturday Sale!  You better hurry!  Enter Thankfulforfluff at check out!  You will also get 50% of your shipping if you purchase $25 or more in merchandise
Happy Small Business Saturday!
