Disney’s Planes – featuring the voice of Dane Cook!

Happy Thursday everyone!  I am super excited to fill you in on one of Disney’s upcoming animated films, PLANES!

I don’t know about you but I have three Cars fans in my house, two are totally into the movie, the other one is sort of just into the actual toys.  If you have a little fan, or fans, in your house they will most likely be super excited about Planes as well.

The very exciting part is that Dane Cook has been slated to appear as the voice of Dusty, the lead charter.  That should get some parents to fill the seats up right?  I think he has a great voice for animated films; its fun, loud and a little goofy sounding!

Inspired by the world of “Cars” and directed by Disneytoon Studios veteran and aviation enthusiast Klay Hall (“King of the Hill,” “The Simpsons”), “Disney’s Planes” is an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure about Dusty’s dream of competing as a high-flying air racer—and his decidedly unfortunate fear of heights. The film takes off in theaters in 3D on Aug. 9, 2013.

“Dane Cook brings unmatched charisma and brilliant comedic timing and instincts to the character,” said Hall. “He gives Dusty a great edge.”

Cook is well known for his appearances on Comedy Central and HBO specials, and for his successful comedy albums. He recently guest starred on “Louie” opposite Louie C.K., and his film credits include starring roles in a host of films, including “My Best Friend’s Girl” opposite Kate Hudson, “Dan In Real Life” opposite Steve Carell, and “Mr. Brooks” opposite Kevin Costner. The actor/comedian just signed a deal with NBC Entertainment and Universal Television to develop a new project starring Cook.

The all-new story offers an exciting cast of characters and centers on Dusty’s high-flying dream. But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing, so he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar. The film is produced by Traci Balthazor-Flynn and executive produced by John Lasseter. 2013 Movie Preview from Disney!

Hey ya’ll, Day 2 of the New Year!  Hope your New Year has begun with a bang!  So much to look forward to in this year.  Today I thought I would bring you the 2013 Disney Movie Preview.  I am very excited about some of these movies…so here we go……

March 8: OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL

Super excited about this movie guys!  Doesn’t this poster make it look so amazing!  If you haven’t read the original books you really should.  Nothing will ever take the place of Judy Garland in my heart, but this movie looks great!

May 3: IRON MAN 3 (Marvel Studios)

There is almost always some kind of Amazing blockbuster that comes out around, or actually ON, my birthday!  This year is Iron Man 3!
June 21: MONSTERS UNIVERSITY (Disney/Pixar)

My children still haven’t seen the original, so I think I’ll make this a weekend!  Watch the first one and then go see this!

July 3: THE LONE RANGER

Like I eluded too under the Oz poster, I’m kinda a classic kinda gal.  So I really hope they do this movie justice.  The previews look great so finger’s crossed!

September 13: THE LITTLE MERMAID 3D (Walt Disney Animation Studios)

I’m just not into the 3D.  My kids find the glasses annoying, and I just rather see the regular ole Little Mermaid on the big screen, but that’s just me.
October 4: DELIVERY MAN (DreamWorks Pictures)

November 8: THOR: THE DARK WORLD (Marvel Studios)

November 27: FROZEN (Walt Disney Animation Studios)

Intriguing picture right?!  Here’s a short synopsis:

 Walt Disney Animation Studios presents
“Frozen,” the coolest comedy-adventure ever to hit the big screen. When a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal
winter, Anna (voice of Kristen Bell), a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his
sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna’s sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), the Snow Queen, and
put an end to her icy spell. Encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and
magic at every turn, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom from destruction.

December 20: SAVING MR. BANKS

Although many of these movies look amazing, and there are several I’m excited to see, of course it’s the last one that makes me the most giddy!  I can’t believe I have to wait until December of Next YEAR!! Sheesh!

Here’s a short snippit of information!  I don’t even want to know too much I’m so excited!

Two-time Academy Award®–winner Emma Thompson and fellow double Oscar®-winner Tom Hanks topline Disney’s “Saving Mr. Banks,” inspired by the extraordinary, untold backstory of how Disney’s classic “Mary Poppins” made it to the screen.

Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups *review/giveaway*

Merry Early Christmas Everyone!!

I can’t believe I’m already talking about Christmas on my blog.  It’s for a good reason of course, because truth be told I can’t stand the fact that we talk about Christmas as soon as the Halloween costumes are stowed safely away in the closet.  But, every once in awhile something can come up that makes me want to talk about it.   I’m a succor for Christmas, and Christmas movies are a big part of it.  I’ve got a list of Christmas movies that have been important over the years, and now I can start adding kid’s movies to the list.  My children are just getting to the age where they realize there are movies and episodes of tv shows for holidays…..stuff that talks about the season.  The Great Pumpkin was our first experience with the holiday film, and last year we added the traditional stop motion films like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and The Little Drummer Boy.
When I received the opportunity to check out the Santa Paws movie I was kind of excited.  Honestly, probably more excited then the kids.  My daughter, who is 4, actually just saw the commercial for it and she tried to explain that to me and I was so not understanding.  Then I saw the commerical and she said, “see mommy, I told you,” and there you go…she told me.
So, after the baby was down for the night, we snuggled in with the lights down low to watch Santa Paws 2.
I have two options when talking about this movie…as a movie critic or as a mom.  I’m going to review it as a mom, because that’s what I am, and that’s what this is about.  I’m sure other people might choose to review it as a movie critic.  Yes, its a straight to DVD movie, with actors that I’ve recognized from Lifetime or Hallmark, and some of the acting might be awkward.  Although anything with Danny Woodburn in it (he was on Seinfeld, as Mikey – loooovvvvveeddd him!!) is awesome in my book.  And, Cheryl Ladd (Three’s Company) plays Mrs. Claus!!!
Anyway, this is a darling movie, that is wholesome with an even more wonderful moral.  All of these things are hard to find these days, even in kids movies.  No adult content or adult humor thrown in for absolutely no reason.  There was real meaning and emotion behind the movie, no matter how silly it may have been all packaged up.  I really think this is a sweet and darling movie and my children and I had had great conversation about the spirit of Christmas and being kind to one another.  If you are looking for a fun new kids movie, and you have kids between the ages of about 4-8ish, or for a family setting then give Santa Paws 2 a try.  It’s cute and fun and all about Christmas!
