Valentine’s Day Nails with Julep

Nail Polish is one of my many loves, in fact I might classify myself as a hoarder of polish.  I love getting my Julep box every month, although occasionally I have opted for some of the make-up products that they have recently started including.  The latest box was full of fun Valentine-y goodness (is that even a word?), including a free polish, called Love.  I was seriously in heaven, two glitter polish’s in one box!  This month’s box also include a new eye sheen, which I’ll be posting about later.

So here’s the box!

My first pairing was a full-coverage glitter polish, Cameron, which is on my toes; and Love, which is a sort of glitter polish, but with a goldish base.  It has hints of pink and red in it.  It’s really a cool color.  Love was actually a special edition polish and you can’t find it on their website.  Maybe some day they will be make it available.

Next I decided to mix it up with several different colors for a fun, Valentine’s themed mani.

All but one of the shades is a Julep shade. I really, absolutely love this pink color which is why I use it
despite my almost total allegiance to Julep.  It’s an amazing quick drying polish called “In a New York Minute,” and it really does dry in about a minute.

From the left: Rebel, Myrtle, New York Minute – MoMA (not available any more) and LOVE
I still will be putting on one more Valentine’s Themed polish, so check my instagram for that.  I am so hard on my nails, with the kids, and cleaning and cooking…its ridiculous.  So i seriously paint my nails every 4 or 5 days.  But, like I said, I’m addicted and I love it!!
Are you wearing a Valentine’s Themed polish?  Do you have a pic or a post…I wanna see!!!

It’s Sunday Social Time!

Time for my favorite part of the week!  And if you’re a MILITARY SPOUSE, make sure to check out my post about Military.com’s Spouse Summit coming to the DC Metro area in April!

Sunday Social

1. What is your favorite thing about spring?
Probably just the fact that it’s getting warmer (at least its supposed to be – here it’s supposed to snow some time today).  Cute dresses and skirts, sandals and all that fun stuff.  Easter is also pretty fun.  How cute are these guys?
2. What is your favorite kind of flower to grow or receive?
I have grown Sunflowers and tulips and stuff….I love to receive Roses…I’m a classic romantic.  Although I love purple ones.  Last spring we grew a sunflower (my son did) and it was a lot of fun.  I want to do more this year.
3. What is your favorite nail polish color?
I’m really nail polish obessed!  Seriously.  Bright colors, classic colors, funky designs.  I paint my nails (toes and fingers) every week.
Come try Julep!  Its so awesome.  I’ve skipped  months here and there, no problem. I absolutely love it! This month this is what I’m getting!

  • Avery: Hot pink crème
  • Jackie: Maraschino cherry crème
  • Mighty Nail & Cuticle Serum: Peptides–super-charged amino acids that build keratine (for your nails) and collagen (for your cuticles)–are our Mighty Nail & Cuticle Serum’s secret weapon to transform dry and damaged cuticles almost overnight. 4. What is your favorite outdoor activity?
Being outside with my kids in our backyard is my favorite.  We have a fabulous backyard and a deck and I’m really excited for BBQs and having friends over.  Pulling out the kiddie pool and the slip n slide and experiencing Phillip outside this summer, fully mobile.  So fun.
5. Do you have any fun spring plans? Details! 🙂
When it definitely is Spring weather I want to take some day trips around the area.  We went to Williamsburg, but there’s so much I want to do.  Hubby won’t be around much so I’d really like to take advantage of some outdoor fun with him before it gets too humid around here.  I wish I had some amazing details to share, but solidifying details well in advance isn’t really how we roll around here.
Can’t wait to read everyone’s posts!  Thanks for stopping by!

Julep Maven – my January box!

As January comes to close I wanted to finally take some time to share one of my Julep boxes.  I became acquainted with Julep in September of last year by a fellow blogger.  I’m such a succor for nail polish, that and shoes.  So, I thought I’d give it a whirl.  My first box was only one penny, so why not?  Since ordering, I’ve only skipped one month; and I have been pleased with my nail polish and the little extras I’ve gotten along with them.  When it came time to purchase a box, paying $20.00 wasn’t a big deal.

The fact that I can change my style profiles whenever I want is a perk that I love.  It’s my money, so if I don’t like the polish that comes in my previously determined category, instead of having to cancel that month, I check out my other options.  Great marketing on their part.

So let’s take a look at my January box!

Here’s my cute little box, with my neon pony tail holders

My two colors – a nude and a bright orange…totally not usually my thing but I love them!
I also received this cuticle and hand roll-on stuff.  It smells heavenly!

My finished product.  Not usually a nude fan, but I did two coats (and also used my quick dry polish drops I received a couple boxes ago)
Below here, is a mix.  The purple was in my first box, and the black was from my October box.  I had been on the hunt for a black polish.  I always really liked seeing it on people but I could never find one that I liked.  I didn’t want to look Goth, and the only ones I was finding were they really black, matte, totally ugly ones.  But Julep came to the rescue in October with this great black here.  It had a little scheen, sparkle to it.  I love it, even on my fingers!  Go Julep!

I can’t wait to share February’s box with you!
