HAVE FUN!

A year ago today I was taking the kids to visit the newly arrived Discovery Space Shuttle.  The whole experience was pretty awesome.  I was really bummed that we missed seeing it fly in the air, but I was able to take the kids out to Dulles Airport and see it sitting on top of the airplane that flew it in.  Brian has a replica shuttle and airplane and he was just absolutely thrilled out of his mind.  Then, after it finally came to rest I packed up the kids and we headed out to the Air and Space Museum, Udvar Hazy Building.  They got to see a bunch of cool aircraft, sit in a little airplane, meet an astronaut that flew on the Discovery.  All amazing little memories that I captured with my lens.  If you are ever in the DC area, I really recommend you come see this museum.  Yes, there is the other Air and Space Museum downtown, but we love the one out at the airport.  They usually have docents on Saturday, special projects for the kids, hands on something – checking the calendar for special events is a must.

so embarrassing when they are about 18 and 16 🙂

Finally!  There it is

The astronaut talking to Brian about how toy manufactuers always get one particular part of space shuttles wrong.  Brian was in heaven.  It was pretty neat.

A year ago around this time the kids and I were at one of the coolest things we had yet to do in DC.  We were fortunate enough to attend the Kid’s Innagural Concert, hosted by Michelle Obama and her daughters, and Jill Biden and her granddaughters.  Truth of it is I probably enjoyed myself more than the kids….I mean Usher and Katy Perry?  When would I have ever been able to see them?  Most likey never.  I was jumping up and down and yelling like a silly fool…I mean, hello…Usher?  It’s my teenage years right there.  It was a really cool experience.  Thanks for joining us on our first week and I hope to see you all back next month!

HAVE FUN!

A little sprinkler fun!  We just recently pulled out all our outside toys, the sprinklers and all that fun stuff!  The one in this picture broke…boo!!!  i really liked it.  But the good ole fashioned one will work just fine.  We’ve been having a blast outside, and I’m loving having Phillip be mobile and playing with his big brother and sister.  I’ve been reading and getting lots of work done, all while watching them play.  It’s been great.

How’s the weather where you are?

So, the hubby has my laptop…so I was forced to scour my facebook page to discover what I might have been doing a year ago today….

My guess, based on all the pics was that we may have ventured out to the National Marine Corp Museum!

If you are ever in the Northern VA/DC area I highly recommend you get out and visit it.  They did an absolutely marvelous job putting it together, both inside and out.  The kids were entertained, my husband was in heaven, plus there’s all these adorable (fresh out of boot camp) Marines on special duty there.  They are pretty cute.

What were you doing a year ago today?

Well, March is quickly coming to an end. Wow, already?!  We are fully into a total year here. Looking back a year and having it be here in the DC area, and not in Nevada or California is really weird. Good, but weird.  So, lets take a look at the fun!

The Cherry Blossoms – They were out early last year and clearly *ahem mother nature* it was much warmer last year.  This was also Brian’s first experience to what is now his most favorite place to be (as clearly stated on his About Me poster for Kindergarten), The Washington Monument.

I don’t know that I’m going to brave them this year, or if there are even in blossoms out there to see (stupid snow and rain).  However, I did just discover that you can purchase grandstand seats to the Cherry Blossom Parade for a very reasonable price.  That is going on the list for next year. Something to know about me is that I am a huge huge HUUUUUGGGEEEEE fan of parades.

Link up, leave a comment!  I’ll be making the rounds!
