Sunday Social 119 – Current Favorites

This week’s Sunday Social is all about my current favorites.  If you’ve never participated in a Sunday Social you are missing out. It’s lots of fun and I always find great blogs to read, and some time to catch up on some of my favorites.  Make sure to come back to my blog for the Rewind 365 link up! In the meantime you can link up with this month’s until then. It’s a fun little link-up of my own creation that I’m trying to get going. So please join in and spread the word!

1. Favorite Scent
My all time favorite scent in general is Tommy cologne, by Tommy Hilfiger. Hubby has worn it for forever, since high school.  I love it and I can’t get enough of it. So many good memories attached to that smell
For me its a toss up between Love Spell, which is the purple body spray from Victoria Secret; Lavender Honey scent from Bath and Body Works and Beckham, Victoria Beckham’s perfume.  I love perfume so if you have a favorite tell me!
2. Favorite Food
I’ve been in a “cooking new food” kick recently, as well as doing a lot of things from scratch (homemade enchilada sauce – what?!!  My friend recommended these Garlic Noodles from Budget Bytes, which are absolutely amazing!! I made some substitutions, gluten free and otherwise, so stay tuned for that post on the blog. This is my new favorite food! I’m going to have to resist from making it all the time.
3. Favorite Sound
Currently, its this little guy!  He’s my little buddy in general, but since its been just me and him during the day its been a whole new level of fun.  We have the best conversations and he just cracks me up.
4. Favorite Picture Currently on Your Phone
It’s a toss up guys….how to pick?!
This is my little man and his newest little pal Rowan. Rowan’s mommy and I have know each other for almost 30 years (whoa!!).

This pick was our most recent family outing.  These are cherished moments since the
kids and I usually experience this type of thing by ourselves. Go Nats!!
5. Best Memory of the Year So Far
Seriously, the hardest question.  I’m not really sure.  Finally getting to go inside the Washington
Monument is probably right up there.  I posted about that here.
We’ll see what else the year has in store for u!

Have fun, stay awhile and welcome to my little corner of the world. Check out my monthly link-up that I’m just starting up.  Its called “Rewind  365”.  Once a month we post about where we were that day, week or month last year.  Looking back is always so much fun, so make a post of your own.

Social Sunday

1. 5 things you want us to know about you
Well, aside from what you see over there on my sidebar, I’m a volunteer and am involved in my church
and my children’s school.  I’m a former ballet dancer who has recently gotten a huge itch for it again. I have a secret desire to write a book and I huge book collector (new and old – its a sickness really).

2. 5 favorite things about blogging
meeting new people and learning. The group of milspouses that I have had the honor to meet
through this whole adventure has been amazing.  I’ve been touched by so many lives its incredible!

3. 5 things you are doing before the year is over
We are going on a little family vacation, just the five of us.
Busch Gardens Christmas Town
Monticello
Hopefully make it to my first Medal of Honor Ceremony as Press (I keep missing them)
Finally do some real thrift store hunting.  I’ve been here almost three years and I still haven’t done that!
Shameful!!

4. 5 favorite fall fashion staples
Black Wool Jacket
Skinny Jeans
Riding Boots
Boyfriend Cardi
and…my Doc Marten Mary Janes!

1. Rimmel Lash Excelerator (seriously can’t find another mascara as good)
2. Almay Color Match make-up (cover-up, powder, liquid make-up – its all good)
3. Mary Kay Nourishine Lip Gloss.  Oh my heavens its the best.  Lasts a long time, great colors and
its a good gloss/lipstick combo —-> if you need a consultant or want to try anything mine’s amazing! Check out her site here
4. Simple Eye Make-Up remover – best stuff and its simple, lol, hence the name
5. Julep Oxygen Nail Treament – I’ve tried and used a lot of different stuff for my nails.
My nails have always struggled, and even when I finally stopped biting them it was hard to get them to grow.
This stuff is literally magic! Use my link and you will get a promo code for a free welcome box! Right now this is my only subscription box, that’s how much I love it. I skip it whenever I want and its not big deal. I love a box like that.

Sunday Social Week 115 Linky

It’s time for another Sunday Social with Ashley Lately and A Complete Waste of Make-up!
It’s been so long since I’ve done one, and I really missed it.  So here I am linking up.  If you’ve never linked up, please do.  I’ve found so many wonderful blogs doing this link-up; and Ashley and Neely are just the best.  Enjoy and thanks for stopping by.

Social Sunday
1. What is one item you wish you could splurge on right now
A Vacation!  Oh man I want to go on a real, long, vacation with the kids so bad right now.  That’s what I would splurge on right now.
2. If you had an entire weekend of no plans what would you do?
I would probably do my cross-stitch pattern I’m working on right now, read and just relax.  I don’t get to squeeze that in too much during the week.  that would be really nice.
3. What is the next place you are visiting outside of your current city?
I want to visit some of the smaller towns down south from where we are.  We’ve spent a lot of time exploring so many nooks and cranies of DC, but we haven’t ventured out too much and I really want to do that.  Pennsylvania and New York are also on my hit list soon.
4. Are you a neat freak or a clutterbug?
I think I’m somewhere in between.  I’m not a crazy ocd neat freak, but I’m definitely not living in a pig sty.  So that’s pretty good….a little bit of both and somewhere in the middle
5. What is your favorite summer purchase?
I finally had to get rid of some of my favorite summer sandals.  I just couldn’t figure out what to
replace them with. I just loved them so much.  But I finally found these little babies at Target and on clearance too.

They have them in black and white too.  The white are pretty darn cute.

Thanks for stopping by and stick around awhile.  Let me know if you’re new or if you see something you like!

Sunday Social 100!!!!!

I couldn’t miss my favorite link-in turning 100 weeks old!  Wow!  100 Sunday Socials.  I haven’t been there since the beginning, but I’ve done a lot of them.  I’ve found some of my favorite blogs (including Ashely, from Ashley Lately) by doing this link-up; so please please make sure that even if you don’t create your own “Sunday Social” find some great blogs that are new to you.  After all, isn’t that what this is all about?!

1. Who do you call when you need to vent?

I have so many people that I can turn to.  A whole slew of besties that I know I could turn to if I needed it.  I’m so very very lucky.  Plus my mom and my dearest hubby.

Anyone in need of any kind of help can talk to me! I'm right here for all support!! Please girls be strong! You are all pretty beautiful angels! Trust yourself!! :)
2. Where do you go when you need alone time?
I like to be in my room alone…shut the world out in my nice comfy bed.  I also really like to go to the local coffee shop and sit.  I can get my work done and people watch.  The library is also fun…..oh man.  Truthfully though my greatest alone time lately has been spent grocery shopping all by myself.  I’m totally a mom.
3. what is your favorite thing to do alone?
Read!  Oh man! Read read read!!!!!  The occasionally clothes shopping is also up there.
4. What is something we should all stop and read right now?
If you’ve not read anything by Jane Austen…stop whatever you’re doing and read one now.  Personally I think a good introduction is Emma or Pride and Prejudice ( and make sure to watch the BBC versions).  Right now I’m reading the Maggie O’Dell series (Alex Kava), and if you like crime, mystery, FBI type books (think Women’s Murder Club” and Alex Cross).  I also read Beautiful Creatures (and watched the movie).  I really liked it.  It’s much more thought provoking and intellectual then say like a Twilight.  It’s not the easiest of reads, but I think it didn’t get as much credit as it probably deserved.
5. Who do you wish read your blog that doesn’t already?
I wouldn’t mind if the hubby read it more.  I know that he has occasionally looked at, but it might be nice to hear about it.  ~No pressure Mr. Air Force~  Honestly my dream would be to have someone read my stuff and that it really helps them, whether it be my Military Monday or Military Support Services posts that really helps someone or catches someone’s attention.  That would be amazing!!
Have a great Sunday from this recently turned 31 Year Old!!!

Sunday Social Week 98! Five Things….

You guys, it’s almost Week 100 of Sunday Social!  How cool is that?!  I hope everyone has had a lovely Spring Break and you had, or are having a fabulous Easter!  This is by far in my top three favorite link-ups and I have found so many amazing blogs and bloggers through it.  Plus, how could you not love Ashley and Neely, our amazing hosts.  Make sure you check out theirs and at least a few other lovely bloggers on the list.  Comeback on Tuesday for my Rewind 365 Link-up.  I’m trying to resurrect it since I let it fall by the wayside.  Now, onto the fun….

This week’s link up is all about five things

1. 5 songs you’ll listen to the rest of your life
This is super hard because I love music.  There are so many songs that are attached to significant memories in my life. Turn on music, any kind of music, and it will be guaranteed to pull me out of a bad mood.
a. Journey’s Faithfully – my mom sang it to me as a baby/kid, I sang it to my kids..it’s a family thing.
b. Angel of Mine – its the hubby’s and mine song, all the way back from high school and we danced to it at our wedding

c. The Killers – Mr. Brightside –  I just love it (PS: they are amazing in concert)
d. All American Rejects – Swing Swing
 e. The Minstrel’s Prayer

2. 5 things on your bucket list
a. Mt. Rushmore
b. Any place in Europe, I’m seriously not picky
c. Empire State Building
d. Meet a Backstreet Boy (I’m so silly I know)
e. See Three Doors Down – their music also holds a lot of sentimental value for me and the hubby, so seeing them would be super awesome.
3. 5 celeb you’d love to hang out with for a day
a. Kate Middleton – she counts right?
b. Zoey Deschanel
c. Angie Harmon (I’ve always loved her)
d. Sean Astin (Rudy best knows as)
e. Harry Connick Jr. – so he can sing to me all day 🙂 LOL
4. 5 things you always carry in your purse
I always care a notebook, pen, lipgloss, chapstick and a nail file
5. 5 books on your reading list
I’m not kidding you when I say that my list is probably about 200+ book long.  I just started a series by Alex Kava – the first one is A Perfect Evil.  The next one is Split Second.  Then I want to continue on with my Capitol Crimes series by Margaret Truman (President Truman’s Daughter).  They all take place here in DC and I’ve been to many of the places, which is pretty cool.  The next three in the series are Murder at the FBI, Murder in Georgetown and Murder in the CIA.

6. Share the last 5 pictures on your phone

Part of my military family, this little lady is the newest addition to my friend’s family.  They are leaving (see mama below and in the middle) and I’m so sad.  I watched her twins while she was in the hospital having this beauty!

These silly little kids are best pals!  I love everything about them and their silliness

An Easter Preview.  I decided to dress them up to see the Easter Bunny this year.  I just couldn’t wait to
see them all dressed up!

My grandmother passed away last month, and I wasn’t there.  It was very difficult for me.
The engagement ring she gave to me when I got married as my something blue.  My grandfather designed it for her.  My mother sent me the matching band after she died.  I’ve been wearing it for the last couple days, just for sentimental reasons.  Maybe someday one  of my sons will marry a super sentimental gal and he can surprise her with it.  I know I would have loved it and thought an heirloom was cool.  So we’ll see.

What a great list of questions this month.  I’m excited to see what everyone else has to say.

Have a great week everyone!
