Personalized Videos Make Your Valentine’s Roses The Perfect Gift

I’m so excited to share Prive Roses with you guys this Valentine’s Day. I wanted to partner with a brand that had something unique and had Military service members and their spouses in mind. Lizbeth from Prive Roses has created something really special. She creates beautifully displayed roses, and forever flowers delivered to the DC/NoVA area {even some locations in MD!!}.

What I really loved about Prive Roses is its unique offering of a video greeting that is delivered with the flowers in the form of a QR code in the envelope. For military service members deployed this is the perfect opportunity to send something sweet to your loved one and have them see your face. How neat is that?

Prive Roses was created by Lizbeth Melendez, an amazing woman who graduated from George Mason University, who after some experience modeling and working for a large consulting firm, decided that in 2017 she would take that entrepreneurial leap and create Prive Roses. Her goal is to bring something beautiful and unique to the DC area. Flower Delivery Reviews placed Prive Roses in the top 13 for flower delivery in the DC area for 2020!

I know that I would absolutely love to receive these flowers and the ones I’m holding in the picture have lasted beautifully for over a week with only slight discoloration! That is insane quality. Plus supporting a local small business should be something everyone strives to do. Our small businesses make our community great!

My favorite might be these little single roses! How adorable are they?!

If you are local to the DC/NoVA and Maryland area give Prive’s website a visit for Valentine’s Day and any holiday…or even just because!

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

Valentine’s Day Nails with Julep

Nail Polish is one of my many loves, in fact I might classify myself as a hoarder of polish.  I love getting my Julep box every month, although occasionally I have opted for some of the make-up products that they have recently started including.  The latest box was full of fun Valentine-y goodness (is that even a word?), including a free polish, called Love.  I was seriously in heaven, two glitter polish’s in one box!  This month’s box also include a new eye sheen, which I’ll be posting about later.

So here’s the box!

My first pairing was a full-coverage glitter polish, Cameron, which is on my toes; and Love, which is a sort of glitter polish, but with a goldish base.  It has hints of pink and red in it.  It’s really a cool color.  Love was actually a special edition polish and you can’t find it on their website.  Maybe some day they will be make it available.

Next I decided to mix it up with several different colors for a fun, Valentine’s themed mani.

All but one of the shades is a Julep shade. I really, absolutely love this pink color which is why I use it
despite my almost total allegiance to Julep.  It’s an amazing quick drying polish called “In a New York Minute,” and it really does dry in about a minute.

From the left: Rebel, Myrtle, New York Minute – MoMA (not available any more) and LOVE
I still will be putting on one more Valentine’s Themed polish, so check my instagram for that.  I am so hard on my nails, with the kids, and cleaning and cooking…its ridiculous.  So i seriously paint my nails every 4 or 5 days.  But, like I said, I’m addicted and I love it!!
Are you wearing a Valentine’s Themed polish?  Do you have a pic or a post…I wanna see!!!

Unique Valentine’s Day Gift Idea – Diamond Candle *Review*

Valentine’s Day is coming up, and while I know the trend of not acknowledging the day as anything other than a normal day is becoming popular, there are still some of us that think its fun.  The hubbs and I haven’t done anything specifically special for Valentine’s Day in long while…..although come to think of it we haven’t really done anything particularly special for our anniversary in awhile either.  But such is the life of a milspouse or any other spouse that that has someone that travels a lot.  Sometimes those specials days are the only days you might have together; But whether its February 17th, or 28th, it doesn’t matter as long as you set aside special time together as a couple.  I’m not sure about you all but I’ve noticed that those special days had more meaning and importance once kids come into the picture.  It’s not like a need some grand gesture every time, or a huge expensive gift.  Sometimes the fun and unique ones are the best.

That’s when I discovered Diamond Candles.  If you’ve been on Facebook for longer than half a second you have probably seen pictures of people discovering what is in their candle.  I have one friend that is like totally obsessed, and believe me I’ve realized just how awesome it can be.  The hubby was skeptical of it, he was expecting something pretty lame.  I wasn’t that cynical, but I wasn’t really sure that the ring I got (at any value) would actually be something anyone would want to wear.

I chose the It’s a Boy Candle.  What is cool about Diamond Candles is that they have ones that fit within a theme – It’s a Boy/Girl and Love (perfect for weddings or anniversaries).  There’s lots of different decor-matching candles, and scents to match any preference.  Some of my favorite ones include

Carnival Candy Ring CandleSweety Pea Ring Candle

 Honeysuckle Ring Candle

Currently there are eleven candles to choose from that are classified as “Ring Candles”.  Diamond Candles also offer classic candles, if you really love the smell of your candle but want a cheaper option at only $19.95 (with ten choices).  Regular Diamond Candles cost $24.95.

I was obsessed waiting for my ring!  It was the most exciting thing waiting for it.  Luckily they aren’t that far down, so now I can non-obsessively burn my candle and simply enjoy the smell.  The ring I received was a beautiful purple color (my favorite) with small diamond accents.  I received the $10.00 ring, and if you aren’t careful the silver looking finish will come off, as with all costume-type jewelry.  None the less, its beautiful and I love it.

Isn’t it pretty?!
Right now they have all sorts of Valentine’s Day coupons going on, like $10 off, and all sorts of good stuff.  So hurry on over.
*I was given a free item in exchange for my honest opinion of the product.  I was not compensated in any other way.  As always my views and opinions are my own.*

Sunday Social

Thanks to the hosts – Ashely and Neely
1. What is the best Valentine’s Day you’ve ever had?
That’s a hard one, but I think one of my most favorite’s was when my hubby (then he was my boyfriend) took me to the hard rock cafe’ (which sad to say isn’t there anymore) and then we went to meet my mom and her best friend at this old theater in the downtown area and watched “All About Eve” on the big screen.  Its an old black and white, Bette Davis movie.  I mean, what teenage boy would take his girlfriend to see that?!  Well, one that I would still be with like 14 years later or something.
2. What is the worst Valentine’s Day you’ve ever had?
I don’t know that i can specifically think of one that was the worst…..I mean, there’s been a few times the hubby has been gone, but he’s a master date planner (I think he should teach a class or something).  So when we are together he does a really great job.

3. What did you do for Valentine’s this year?
We went to Ruth Chris’ (never been, very impressed) and Bon Jovi…yup Bon Jovi!!  major freak out moment here!  I’m a product of my childhood and my mom and and raised me on 80s area rock…so there you go.  I’ve seen Def Leppard twice!  My first concert was when I was seriously like 8 months old, at an outdoor area…I saw Kansas 🙂  LOL!

4. What is your best Valentine’s idea if you’re single?
I think that I would get some girlfriend’s together, go out, get some drinks, see a movie….I’ve done that when the hubby’s gone before.  The best thing you can do, in my opinion, is go out and have fun and stop thinking about it 🙂

5. What is your favorite Valentine’s candy?
Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups – heart shaped of course 🙂

6. Favorite Valentine’s memory from your childhood?
Wow, this is a great question, but I seriously don’t know that I have one?  I can’t wait to read people’s answers if they do.

I was making heart-shaped pancakes (which this year we’ll be doing in the evening because Brian is in school this year), on our brand new heart-shaped plates (which we ate on a box because we were still unpacking!  I was also indulging in my most favorite holiday treats – Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups in Holiday Shapes.  Most holidays you can find me indulging in egg, heart or Christmas tree shapes.  I think we need a four-leaf clover shape, but that’s just me.  There’s a little baby Phillip picture in there for good measureHope your V-Day is wonderful.
